After I signed up for the Desktop version this app would not load. It gave me the error message this App is assigned to another capture one account. I had this app on the iPad for some time now and now I download the desktop version and it crashes it wont even load… it just hangs on the splash screen. This has become my swiss army knife in the studio and on location… its 2024 why is getting things to work so difficult. This is unacceptable.
  • Excellent for Tether - but still lots of features missing

I have been using Capture One for iPad for almost a year now. Wireless and Wired tether with the Sony A7IV - speed is incredible, sometimes glitched when scrolling thru a lot of photos, but with each update that gets better. For client review on the location, specially places where I can’t have a laptop - like streets, lakes, pools, and others, the app is incredible, full RAWs on a big screen helps everyone on a creative team, from makeup artist, hairstyles, fashion designers and clients, make changes on the spot and that’s the main reason I got the app. I wish masking and local adjustments will make it to the app as well, pretty much can’t do any editing on it - I have to wait to transfer files to the desktop all the time. Also live preview would make the app so much better

Having this iPad option is a huge advantage for me. I hope you keep iterating on this design, because it definitely works despite the limitations. A few thoughts: The blur from transitioning from one picture to the next, especially at full screen, is disorientating. This makes it tough to review thousands of shots, maybe add a blank screen transition option or something? (This is actually pretty important, especially for older eyes like mine) I’d like to toggle whether images advance automatically when rated as well. The ability to change how many images I view at once, with rating options, would be super helpful. At least 4 at once would help. I expected a pinch to zoom similar to iPhotos. Overall good stuff working within the limits of iOS, I don’t think most consumers are aware that it doesn’t work at all like desktop OS.

  • Capture One for iPad: Finally a Worthwhile Feature Set

When Capture One for iPad emerged from beta and the first release was publicly available, I was profoundly disappointed with what I considered a half-baked solution that was not ready for serious incorporation into my photography workflow and stated, “Prepare to be disappointed.” Here are a few snippets from my original take. “ So after their alpha and beta testing, they finally released Capture One for iPad. And as a photographer who had been eagerly anticipating the application, it is a profound disappointment. Quite frankly, the application’s render of raw files is as good as the desktop, but that’s where, in my view, its strengths ends.” “A mobile solution without a robust cloud backend is an embarrassment in this day and age. I imported 75 images into Capture One for iPad. After making some initial tweaks, I had to manually send them to the cloud so I could import them to a session on my desktop. Notwithstanding the iPad’s ability to run background processes, the cloud transfer would pause every time the Capture One app was not open and on screen.” “Though Capture One advances the iPad app as part of an integrative workflow, it is anything but that. In fact, it adds several layers of additional work.” I discontinued the subscription, but would reactivate it each time a significant release came about. Invariably, I would simply stop it. That was until the November/December 2023 release. While I believe the company needs to keep working on cloud sync, and while local adjustments is painfully absent, I think Capture One for iPad is now worthily with the addition of saving (effortlessly) photos to the iPad as well as to camera’s internal memory cards for my Nikon cameras. I am now confident in taking my iPad along as I prefer to shoot tethered. And I’ve seen other features being added incrementally. I recently told a fellow photographer who was seeking a tethering solution for his iPad, “Capture One is in my view the best on the market for tethering-on an iPad or on your laptop.” I am looking forward to more improvements. And this time, I have not stopped my subscription.
