You can't use this free version. The ads never end.

Worst app experience ever! The free version has ads popping up multiple times and each one lasts for an eternity. And theres no way to close them without interacting with them. Just what I want when needing to access travel info immediately.

This app used to be my go-to, the one I'd recommend to people traveling to NYC. It was so go I actually wrote a review for it. Now we are on the other end of that stick. The app has been broken by the fact that it needs internet to work. It doesn't track trains. It's not asked to give real-time information. It's just supposed to be a map. But they had to acquire and sell metadata so they had to require network connection and, in so doing, have broken the app. Nonsense.

MTA now has an official app. Much better with no ads. This app is a money grab. do not use.
  • Works but ads

This app works fine. It’s essentially a PDF viewer of the NYC subway map, which is definitely helpful. What is not helpful is when you need to know what stop you need to get off/on at and the app decides that you need to see 4 useless ads that you can’t skip. This is an on demand app that people need instantly to give them information. Really wish they would change their ad decisions to just a random popup instead of unskippable BS. I get you need to make money, but at the expense of user experience is enough for me to stop using.

When you open the app it takes 5-10 seconds to load, followed by 10-15 seconds of ad, which half the time doesn’t have an option to x out of so you quit the app, open it again and go through the whole process again before you’re finally able to use the app. If you leave the app for a few minutes and come back to it, more often than not you can’t access any of the stations so you wait for another ad to pop up cuz they’re accessible only after you finish it (which again sometimes has nowhere for you to skip it, so rinse and repeat). Sometimes it just gets stuck at the map where you can’t do anything so you quit the app and start over. Been using this app for years, sad to see it reduced to the current useless form by such moronic design.

Nothing like being in a rush and checking this to see if I need to transfer or ride it out due to a MTA change. & it’s super slow to open an ad that is made so it’s hard escape without opening something that isnt a subway map.
  • Terrible App

The developers of this app are scammers. The app opens up to an ad that you either can’t click out of or are required to click because they hide the X. By the time you actually pull up the map you will miss your train. A subway map shouldn’t have ads like this delaying the opening. Shame on you guys
