The new app no longer does local. Keeps getting worse. besides no comments they lock articles behind pay wall. Find another more friendly app Now 12/ 2020 update broke everything. Done delete and going to never look back. 12/2025 terrible everything locked behind pay wall. Look for news elsewhere.

Trying to view obituaries in the app used to work until the latest update. Now it says “no articles for now”. If I want to see them, I have to visit the website. This is one reason I use the app.

Update 11/25/25: app is broken. News not updating, opens on an outdated article instead of home page, tells me I need to subscribe while I already have an active subscription - cannot access some games and others have lost my history. Update 11/6/25: puzzles are back, but the INTRUSIVE AD BAR remains. GET RID OF THE AD BAR if you want to get a better rating!! App loads VERY slooooooowly. Once in, the large white bar for ads is excruciatingly intrusive and gets in the way when trying your work puzzles - speaking of: WHERE DID THE PUZZLES GO? They’re nowhere to be found in the app! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

It seems that since the latest update this app is almost impossible to navigate. The desired link results in a freeze or at best a very long delay.

I’m a subscriber as I believe reporters deserve to be paid. And I accept that a certain amount of advertisement is also needed to support a “newspaper”. But this app is becoming unusable. It’s extremely slow to load not just initially but also for every news section and article. And the new permanent ads at the bottom of articles further shrinks the reading space on my phone screen.

I signed up for Michigan football custom alerts and notifications but you don’t send out enough in my opinion. I’d love more to be able to keep up with my favorite team if you can! Thanks!!

I'd expect a company I support financially to support me by removing the annoying advertising. While somewhat annoying for some, I'm a blind user who depends on screen reading technology. The ads interrupt my reading experience and often place me on the entirely wrong spot on the page when they change. I would give them an A for content, but an f- in terms of delivery. Ive already canceled my renewal of the subscription, since it's such a pain to use. Please do better so I can renew!

I have used the mlive app for many years. It’s a good app but there are now so many articles behind the paywall I don’t find much I can read. The free stuff is just Dear Abbey and “how to watch” some tv show. So….not actual news. I could subscribe to see the news articles but my budget isn’t without it’s limits. Sadly, I am deleting the app 👋
