  • Second time around

I was amped the first time out. Lost 20 pounds, but being a vegan was probably short on protein. Gained it all back. Second Noom subscription is annoying (all the same algorithmic enthusiasm) but logging meals is truly helpful.

It’s a great tool, the support, knowledge, it encourages you to want to reach your goal in a healthy way. You log in your progress and you feel great when you see the results no matter how small or big. It has made me more aware of what I put into my body and how it affects not only my body but my mental health. Only downfall is that is very expensive for me for 6 months. Worth it if you can afford it.

This program is working well for me, I have done it before and have noticed they’ve made some changes. Some better some worse. I am not a fan of being encouraged to “share” everything all the time. I find it wildly annoying and a thinly veiled attempt at free marketing. That being said the meal logging system is fantastic and extremely helpful for someone like me who is not motivated by fat diets or restrictive eating.

Signed up but never really used the service, renewed and saw the charge the same day the renewal took effect. Requested a refund and they refused!! I had to threat to dispute the charge and contact the BBB in order to get a refund. Scammy behavior, that alone will make me not use this service again. I think companies that try to nickle and dime you are not reputable, this is a PSA for all those considering this service. It may work but I do not like their refund policy or customer service.
  • Food database confusing

The lessons are really good, the psychology behind weight loss is good, focusing on whole grains, lean proteins, and lots of fruits and vegetables are all great. I did noom once before and enjoyed it plus learned a lot. I thought I’d go back to it and it seems the food database needs a massive cleanup. There are lots of duplicates, it’s hard to find the right item, some of the calorie counts are wrong, and the categorization of food is wrong. For example, a turkey tenderloin is yellow but a certain brand is green? A watermelon radish is 138 calories? It doesn’t make sense. It was good to have a reminder of how to eat better but if I want an incorrect database I’ll use MyFitnessPal for free.

Noom is effective and has been easy to follow with little hunger. App is not always intuitive and things are hard to find.
  • Do not download this app

They give you a “free 8 day trial” and don’t notify you when that free trial is up. I did not like the app in general so i deleted it and forgot about the trial. I noticed a few weeks later I was charged $160 for a subscription to an app u didn’t even use or like. Customer service refused my refund and was not helpful at all.

for some reason, there was no option to cancel my subscription. No button anywhere, and i looked everywhere, especially where you can manage your subscription. only other option was to switch to a different plan. i even went on my computer to cancel it, but the option still didn’t show. well, they ended up charging me and it declined. The things the app said led me to believe that they would stop attempting to charge my empty bank account due to a failed transaction. still no cancel sub option. Now maybe a few weeks or month later, out of the blue, they charged me again, this time with money in my account. and guess what, the cancel button appeared after they charged me🙄 i appreciate the app but ive never had such an irritating experience with managing a subscription. is this even legal?
  • Rip off artists

The program is great, and I was beginning to lose weight. But, despite assurances that we would not be charged by a certain date, my wife and I were charged a full day to a week early than what was promised by Noom. If the company itself is not a rip off artist, their computer algorithm certainly are. Avoid at all costs or you will wind up with unpleasant $77 charges at random times.
