Description

It began when he got behind the wheel. It didn't end with his first kill.

Chris Morehouse, a chauffeur for the US embassy in Germany, is navigating his way through the tight streets of Bonn when he encounters a sight ahead of him, he one day half expected. The US ambassador's car coming under attack by well-organized terrorists.

Chris' fight-or-flight instinct kicked in, but he was conflicted, this wasn't his battle. Should he move forward and engage the enemy, or look the other way?

With an uncanny ability to evaluate situations instantly, Chris aimed his car at one of the attackers and mashed the gas. It would be his first kill for the United States of America, but it would not be his last. A kill that piques the interest of a three-letter agency that has its eye on a potential new recruit.

However, Chris's instincts also tell him he could now be a target, The FBI brushes him off, but a mercenary, a terrorist, and a corrupt politician may have other ideas.

Wow! Twenty minutes after finishing the book, I noticed that I am still catching my breath. Complex people in complex circumstances interacting on many levels. Mr. Davies provides detailed insights into security and is an excellent storyteller.

This book, The Potential, appeared in my ‘recommended books’ section of my app and the storyline immediately got my attention from page 1. The author really knows how to pull you in. And bonus, being from Germany, and enjoying crime novels, I enjoyed learning some new things! The story line was fluid and even though there were many different characters in different places around the world, the storyline flowed well and it wasn’t confusing. I realize this is fiction, but the author put the story together so well that I had to keep reminding myself it was fiction. He really made it seem like the events actually took place. I just purchased the 2nd book that continues Chris’s story and I can’t wait to sit down after work with a nice glass of wine and continue to join Chris on his journey!

The story was intriguing and definitely a nailbiter at times. I would have given it 3 1/2 stars if I could, but I can only rate it by whole stars on this app. Looking forward to reading another book by this author.

Exceptionally written, very hard to put down. Threads of the greater story slowly became one another great tale. This will truly be a fine series.
