Description

As Lonesome Valley kicks off the holiday season with its annual parade, artist Amanda Trent embraces the Christmas spirit, happy that her family will be coming to town to celebrate the season with her and her loyal pets, Laddie, a friendly golden retriever, and Mona Lisa, an independent calico cat.

Amanda has just one nagging concern: her art sales have stalled, so her checking account is starting to look a bit puny. Her financial woes pale, though, in comparison to her concern when several people eat carrot bars laced with hemlock at the high school's arts and crafts fair, resulting in one unlucky man's death. Was the poisoning an accident, or did someone with evil intent deliberately spike the sweet baked goods?

Leads the police follow don't pan out until Amanda puts the puzzle together. But, sometimes, knowledge can be a dangerous thing. . .

  • Great series!

Hemlock for the Holidays is book #3 in the Fine Art Mystery series by Paula Darnell. Amanda is getting ready for her kids and parents coming to visit for Christmas while worrying about a lack of sales of her artwork. She has a lot going on and then people get sick at a crafts fair. I find Amanda to be very relatable - the finances, the being uncomfortable selling her art, the love for her pets. She has great friends and an interesting profession. The mystery was interesting and there were plenty of suspects to keep you guessing. I received a copy of this book from BookSprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Gearing up to Christmas in Lonesome Valley, Amanda faces many highs and lows. The decorations she shared with her family were left behind at the house her ex now shared with his new wife and baby Sales of her art are not really stellar at the local co-op gallery where she is a member, and local politics and other mayhem lead to the loss of a significant sale. Can she survive all the craziness- and keep her business afloat? Harried, horrible or happy holidays ahead? Humorous yet deadly pet and artist cozy murder mysteries- looking forward to the next adventures! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
