Excerpt From Summary of Kristin Neff's Self-Compassion
#1
To feel good about ourselves, we compare ourselves to others all the time. We put others down to make ourselves feel better. But this backfires because it prevents us from reaching our full potential.
#2
It is very difficult to admit when we have been rude or have caused conflict, because our ego feels better when we place the blame on others. We might feel better about ourselves for a short while by ignoring our flaws, but in the long run we only harm ourselves by getting stuck in endless cycles of stagnation and conflict.
