Description

The Nobel prize-winning Albert Camus, who died in 1960, could not have known how grimly current his existentialist novel of epidemic and death would remain. Set in Algeria, in northern Africa, The Plague is a powerful study of human life and its meaning in the face of a deadly virus that sweeps dispassionately through the city, taking a vast percentage of the population with it.

This edition contains extensive overviews of both the author and the novel.

It's a review and discussion about the novel. If you need that... It may be good.

  • Review of e-book, not text

The novel is quite good, but this review seeks to caution those considering a purchase that the e-book is not particularly well-done. It appears as though the publisher simply had the book scanned and turned this file into an iBook. The text is separated into three essential parts, which aren't even separated by page breaks. Perhaps this is the way the original text is, but I'd be surprised if that is the case. Thankfully, the iBooks application makes the text easy to read. It would have been nice for the publisher to put a bit more work into formatting however. For $5, the purchase is reasonable, just temper your expectations on the formatting.

I've read this book three times now and each visit resembles the warm feeling of visiting an old friend.
