Description

The stylish, exuberant, and remarkably sweet confession of one of the most famous groupies of the 1960s and 70s is back in print in this new edition that includes an afterword on the author's last 15 years of adventures. As soon as she graduated from high school, Pamela Des Barres headed for the Sunset Strip, where she knocked on rock stars' backstage doors and immersed herself in the drugs, danger, and ecstasy of the freewheeling 1960s. Over the next 10 years she had affairs with Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Waylon Jennings, Chris Hillman, Noel Redding, and Jim Morrison, among others. She traveled with Led Zeppelin; lived in sin with Don Johnson; turned down a date with Elvis Presley; and was close friends with Robert Plant, Gram Parsons, Ray Davies, and Frank Zappa. As a member of the GTO's, a girl group masterminded by Frank Zappa, she was in the thick of the most revolutionary renaissance in the history of modern popular music. Warm, witty, and sexy, this kiss-and-tell–all stands out as the perfect chronicle of one of rock 'n' roll's most thrilling eras.

It was very entertaining especially if you grew up during this era. I think I will certainly read others of hers and recommend this one

As a woman born in 1961, I was slightly behind in age but a true Rock n Roll girl. Loved all these memories Miss P has and the wonderful memories this brought back to me.

Loved your book! I would have given it five stars but I thought it had just a tad too many post scripts. Born in reseda 1957, I became alive when I first discovered sgnt peppers. I've was able to see SO many of the amazing concerts discussed in your book. Thank you for the behind the scenes insights. Jim Doria

My curiosity with her tall tales and fascination with rock stars lead me to leap into this book and so glad I did. Not only is her writing so very descriptive and imaginative and "fun" but she interjected her feelings and thoughts so eloquently like no other author I've read. I really thank her for "sharing" the rock god stories but more liked reading about her reflection of herself even if through them. She's real and she makes me see how "real" we all really are. As much as I adore rock stars I realize they were the ones lucky to meet her and lucky she gives this honest account of her experience. It's a much more interesting take than from the rock gods perspective (ad nauseam). It's NOT sleazy in my opinion. She is emotional and insightful and inspired making her journey through her experience. I really "like" just who she is and think she writes a great account of her life! Thank you Pamela Miller from Reseda California xoxo!
