Reviews

  • Silly story

The author should have spent less time on tedious tea-inspired puns and more on doing the very minimal amount of research to ensure basic credibility. A so-called botanical expert who does not know the first thing about plants, the notoriously prickly and xenophobic Swiss police who lets an Interpol agent take over their investigation, a complete ignorance of what a ski resort looks like (flowers blooming in the snow! Hiking trails cleared of snow! Sunsets followed immediately by night fall like in the tropics!). All in all a waste of time
  • Too mich “steeping” and “brewing “

I’ve always enjoyed Ms Grace’s novels, but this one was overly saturated with similies and tea terms. It became very distracting toward the end to read three or four uses of the word “steeped” in the course of one or two paragraphs! It was no longer funny; it was overuse. I won’t be purchasing any more brewing perils of Penelope. Put that teapot back on the shelf.
  • Disappointing

I ve read Fiona Grace’s earlier books and expected better. Interesting plot and characters but the constant analogies were overdone and tiresome.
  • Tries too hard to be cute

I don’t give up on books easily, especially mysteries, but this one I couldn’t get through. Too many metaphors, similes, puns, etc. I was rolling my eyes every other paragraph. Do not recommend.
  • Cliches galore

Thought this would never end. One cliche after another. For example I can’t count the number of times that one of the characters had a smile “that didn’t quite reach their eyes” and I thought oh no, not again!
  • Tea puns

The constant tea puns were annoying.
