Description

Pulitzer Prize Finalist: “By far the most lucid and compelling account . . . of what probably did happen in Dallas—and what almost certainly did not.” —The New York Times Book Review
The Kennedy assassination has reverberated for five decades, with tales of secret plots, multiple killers, and government cabals often overshadowing the event itself. As Gerald Posner writes, “Fifty years after the assassination, the biggest casualty has been the truth.” In this first-ever digital edition of his classic work, updated with a special comment for the fiftieth anniversary, Posner lays to rest all of the convoluted conspiracy theories—concerning the mafia, a second shooter, and the CIA—that have obscured over the decades what really happened in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963.
Drawing from official sources and dozens of interviews, and filled with powerful historical detail, Case Closed is a vivid and straightforward account that stands as one of the most authoritative books on the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Now updated for the first time in twenty years, with an epilogue from the author containing new information

Posner's updated book is even more compelling than his earlier edition. Now that information that had been locked away has been released and new technological advances have been used to look at evidence, his original book is even more solid. Everything points out that his original research was correct. There was one shooter and it was Oswald. Ruby was a man easily provoked to violence and had mental disorders in his family. He was way too low level for to work for the mob. No group that wanted anything secret would go to that guy. No conspiracies. Chance nearly always is an element in assassinations so why look for the convoluted. Too much ink has been wasted on the conspiracy theories, and multiple flawed movies have been made. Conspiracy sells and stays around. Read this book; it's the real deal.

Outstanding research and a mountain of evidence to bury LHO. File this one under "'Nuff Said" and welcome back to the real world.

I became fascinated with JFK assassination lore at age 13 when an older cousin had Mark Lane's Rush to Judgment in a box of old paperback books. I've since read most of the major conspiracy theory books and searched the web sites for definitive info. The breakthrough for me was visiting the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas and purchasing a copy of the Zapruder film. It was clear two shots struck from behind. I finally ran across this title in the late 1990's and am thrilled to see an updated version for the 50th anniversary of this pivotal moment for all of us in the baby boom generation. Gerald Posner does a masterful and scholarly job of examining all the characters, motives and opportunities involved in this crime and explains the origin and analysis of every conspiracy myth in an entertaining, readable way. After reading all the facts and understanding the sources of confusion and doubt, you will conclude the case is indeed still closed. I thank Mr. Posner for conducting the diligent first hand research necessary to piece together this nagging mystery so we can stop spending money on further fallacious tales.
