Description

How much can you really know about another person? The unsettling truth that even those closest to us can harbor hidden dimensions drives this thrillingly unpredictable, blood-stained fear trip. Jackie (Hannah Emily Anderson) and Jules (Brittany Allen) are a couple celebrating their one year anniversary at a secluded cabin in the woods belonging to Jackie's family. From the moment they arrive, something changes in Jules' normally loving wife, as Jackie (if that even is her real name) begins to reveal a previously unknown dark side - all building up to a shocking revelation that will pit Jules against the woman she loves most in a terrifying fight to survive. Defying expectations at every turn, Director Colin Minihan delivers a nerve-twisting cat and mouse thriller built around a shattering tale of heartbreak and betrayal.

Completely nonsensical and illogical to the point of absurdity. The ruse is not believable, nor are any of the decisions the characters make. Pass on this schlock.

I thought this movie was very powerful. Shows you that you might not ever truly know the person you are in love with.
  • Surprisingly good.

Wasn't expecting much. Assumed that due to the leads' sexuality the movie would be a preachy fever dream for SJWs. This was not the case. While significant, the sexual prefrence of the characters is organic-- no different than if a man/woman played the same roles in a similar film. If the LGBQ film industry wants to attract more than a niche audience, they shoukd make more films like "What Keeps You Alive". The best compliment I can give the film is that I will buy it when it becomes available for purchase. I sill also recommend it to friends. Give it a shot.
  • Terrible.

Could not even watch it. Then tried to fast forward to see if anything good. You take a bad script, very bad acting - and give it very good reviews by just having a gay couple? Whatever. Not even worth a $.99 rental....
  • Funny Games

With Lesbians. It’s well produced and directed. Good indy horror/thriller. Really, it’s not as sick and sadistic as Funny Games. Just started to think about that movie while watching it.
  • A thoughtful ride.

Out of 23 films I saw at the Overlook Film Festival, this was the best. Brittany Allen is hypnotic. It's an interesting turn following her comedic performance in It Stains the Sands Red. I've never seen a queer thriller that didn't use its protagonist's sexuality as a plot point; in that regard this is pretty groundbreaking. Survival horror is a tough subgenre to get tonally right. This one manages to be at once harrowing and endearing. You root hard for Jules by the end. Great flick.

I have never written a review, and I watch a great deal of movies... I must, as my civic duty, however, warn others about wasting precious time on such crap. This was remarkably poor acting and direction, though, by far the worst of all, the story itself was profoundly facile, absurd, unbelievable, and just plain stupid. How rotten tomatoes didn't pan this film is beyond me. I was so irritated and could not wait for this drivel to end. I am very curious about how others will rate this garbage.
