Went in unsure.... SOOOO good, and so sad... Redemption but it takes a journey... Swank n Cooke act their hearts out. gut punch seeing drug struggles made REAL. cried hard tbh as many people suffering from this fr in my life and friends. impactful and a story hollywood critics sleep over. we need wake up as a country, help each other heal. this an honest look at the crisis, real stories that deserve telling. wish they showed it in schools! heavy but powerful film - and a slamming soundtrack
A must see, especially if you have ever had a loved one with addiction!

If two time Oscar winner, Hilary Swank doesn’t sell you giving this movie a try, maybe House of the Dragon standout star Olivia Cooke will persuade you! They both give top notch performances, and Swank is in a role that I’ve never seen her play before and she was amazing, but it’s Hilary Swank! The Good Mother deals with the hot topic of the fentanyl crisis that is ripping through America leaving casualties everywhere. This crisis doesn’t discriminate on race, color, gender, or social class, and I think so many people will be able to relate to this tragic story of a family torn apart by addiction and the choices and situations that come along with it. It gives such a unique and thought provoking perspective from both sides of a family dealing with addiction. I could never imagine being a mother and being put in the situation the movie presents to the viewer, and just when you think you know what is going to happen it goes in a completely different direction that keeps the movie moving along without needing any special effects or blood and violence. The ending is probably my favorite part because you can interpret it in so many ways. Three of the people I went with had three different interpretations of the ending!!! This movie stands out bc of the story and characters, I would definitely recommend!

Cast delivers all around. Plot and ending were confusing at first - but after watching a second time, I fully appreciated it and understood what really happened. Had a nice debate with my friend after also about what she would do as a mother if it were her. Definitely worth the watch and spirited discussion! Less than 90 minutes so perfect amount of time when you also have kids!
