Description

A house with a terrifying secret is the setting for this Japanese horror film. A young nurse arrives at a house to find that two brutal murders have taken place, and now the house is cursed - exacting revenge on all who set foot in it. The nurse may be next in a long line of bloody deaths, as the vengeful spirits set out to make things right, once and for all.

  • Strange, yet deeply unsettling horror flick

I've seen Ju-On: The Curse, Ju-On: The Grudge, as well as all three of the American Grudge movies. I must say, Shimizu's work impresses me, mostly with his ability to deliver the same shocks and scares across cultures, time and time again. Probably because I saw the American version first, but the Japanese Grudge didn't scare me as much as the American version (which is why I only gave it four stars), despite them both being directed by the same guy. Nevertheless, Ju-On is an intensely creepy horror flick that can provide a whole lot by showing very little. If I was to make a recommendation, I would say definitely watch this one before the American version, even this one can be a little more cheesy and humorous at times.

This movie made me laugh half of the time and it was kinda weird, which is why I enjoyed watching it, at the same time it could have been better and more scary. Not the greatest movie made.

If you liked the American version you'll LOVE the original. It's even better. Even though you may see something coming it still gives you that creepy feeling in your stomach and you just can't look away. If you like Japanese horror this is a definate!

Okay so it's the original "Grudge". I like the remake better. The special effects are goofy and a lot of the nuances of Japanese film don't translate well. That little boy sure is creepy though.
  • BEST MOVIE EVER!

Just a couple simple words: Better than the American version. I love Japanese horror movies and this one is in my top 5.
