I remember seeing this terrible movie in theatres. I am a fan of Hugh Dancy and his character was good and he nailed it. However the entire movie is about some old woman who pretty much sucked at life and made all of the wrong decisions and looks back on her death bed. I remember just continually asking myself if this lady was ever going to die?! I know its a mean thing to say, but her death and the ending of the movie couldn't have came fast enough. Went to see it because of the all star cast. Yeah... i bet all of these actors are looking back thinking to themselves "what the f**k was i thinking?" Skip it and save yourself the two hours of misery. If you do rent it or god forbid buy it, i will be surprised if you last 5 minutes. Don't waste your time. You could be doing something so much more productive than watch this movie, like sleep or do laundry. cuz thats how bad this movie was. I wish there were negative stars. Cuz this would get a negative 5 trillion.
  • Ugh.

Seriously, just skip the movie and read the book. The film does the book no justice.
  • DON'T RENT!

I'm a huge fan of Jane Austen so of course I love to watch the movie adaptations as well. By now everyone should come to realize that books and their movie counterparts are rarely the same. The writer and director took a lot of liberty with this movie and I know that several people were very disappointed. I actually thought it was okay. I loved how Mary and Henry Crawford were interpreted because that is exactly how I imagined them to be while I was reading the book. I was disappointed with the removal of William and how he was replaced with Susan and I was also confused why they choose to combine Fanny with Jane Austen. But all aside I still enjoyed it. Much more than the newest version with Billie Piper! I don't know who thought casting the chick from Doctor Who was a good idea.

Beautiful cinematography. The movie pace was too slow. I wanted to stop watching in a few places, but did make it to the end. Good theme.
  • Yeah, it's that good. haha
