Description

A hilarious, bi-cultural comedy from filmmaker Jesse Peretz (First Love, Last Rites) and IFC Films. Inspired by Peretz's experiences living and working abroad, this indie film finds an abundance of humor in the comic misunderstandings that occur when two mismatched American brothers (Paul Rudd and Romany Malco) journey to France to claim an unexpected inheritance. Bringing a little attitude' and a lot of ignorance with them, they find the chateau's French inhabitants to be a lot more than they bargained for.

"JeffNBelgium" is a confused francophile with no taste. It's not shallow, nor cliche, nor crude. It's light and entertaining and fun. This isn't supposed to be a "French" movie, Jeff--movies are allowed to take place in France without being a cliche love story, like the ones you prefer. Next time, watch the preview before you purchase something. P.S. They really don't use the f-word that much. Jeff just has very sensitive kindergarten ears.

I was really hoping for a 'French Kiss' type of movie. What could have been an intriguing and engaging storyline was shallow, cliche, and crude (how many times do we have to hear the f-word?) No wonder this was an independent movie and never made it to the cinema. Kudos to the actors who did the best they could with the story given to them. If you're looking for great french movies I recommend: "A Very Long Engagement", "French Kiss" or "La Vie En Rose".
