Description

Inspired by the life of Hugh Glass, Academy Award-nominee Richard Harris (“Unforgiven”, ”Camelot”) plays a trapper left for dead after being mangled by a mammoth grizzly bear. Struggling to survive in the wilderness, he keeps himself going by planning revenge on the expedition who left him, especially group leader John Huston (Academy award-winner actor-director of “Chinatown”, “The Treasures of the Sierra Madre”). Similar to Man in the Wilderness, The Revenant (starring Leonardo DiCaprio) is also based on the story of Hugh Glass.

I thought the movie was an insightful religious struggle of a man left for dead and overcoming vengeance. He was enlightened spiritually to achieve a goal of reuniting with family accompanied by forgiveness. Obviously the papaeastwood comment has little depth. Pursuant possibly to "Transformer" type of movie taste.

If my goal in life was to create the worst movie ever made, I would have made this one.

Okay, not 100% historical but pretty close! This is a movie based on a real expedition in 1820 and the real events that happend to Hugh Glass. Parts are true, others are Hollywood. Some parts are taken from another historical mountain man, John Colter (Colter's Run). Both of these men and thir swtories are used to make the story of "Naked Prey" taking place in Africa instead. Regardless, it is an excellent movie that follows a man from vengence to forgiveness - which really occured with Hugh Glass.
