Description

Schultze gets the blues" tells the story of Schultze. Schultze has spent his whole life in a small town in Saxon-Anhalt near the river Saale. Schultze's life, divided between work and the pub, the allotment, folk music and fishing, is rudely interrupted when he and his mates Manfred and Jürgen lose their jobs. As entropy sets in and maintaining the daily routine deteriorates into a farce, Schultze discovers a life on the other side of the hill, America.

Schultze Gets the Blues is in no way tedious. It is stylistic, and some of scenes take longer than 30 seconds, making it difficult for many Americans to sit through, but it is one of the better movies I've seen this year. The dialogue is limited, due to a character that says little more than he has too. The result is a script where every line is worth hearing. With less dialogue, it is also easier to appreciate the emotions of the characters as conveyed through their exceptional acting. I highly recommend this movie.

I am now an hour and thirty minutes closer to death, thank you.
  • Schultze is way too lame!

The scenes in this movie are extremely tedius. In one five-minute scene, all you see is Schultze sitting on a couch. You don't need subtitles for this movie because only four words are spoken the whole movie. This a bad attempt at a Euro art film and a waste of your time and money.
