Description

The Dr. will see you now. Basketball's Dr. J - Julius Erving - operates on the competition in this hoop-it-up disco-era fantasy about a team on a winning streak when it signs up motley players born under the zodiac's fish sign of Pisces. Will the Dr. in the house, trademark cloud-walking, net-shredding slam dunks are plentiful. More hoops excitement follows as the Harlem Globetrotters' Meadowlark Lemon handles the rock as if he had more arms than an octopus and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar shows his winning style as well. Off the court, Flip Wilson is a beleaguered coach and Jonathan Winters plays the dual roles of an ill-natured mogul and a sweet-natured nitwit. The world isn't round in The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh. It's round ball. Fish fever - hook it!

I grew up on this movie and it is a classic. This is one of the hardest to find movies that I've ever encountered. To find it on iTunes, is a dream come true. This movie encompasses the love of basketball and astrology. Even my mom bought this movie, once I told her it was on the iTunes store.

This movie is Da Bomb! I've had this movie on VHS every since it was available but to be able to get it digitally is a dream come true!!! To really understand this movie you have to take your mind back to the times when the NBA was all about Dr. J, Kareem, and a few others. As a matter of fact, when this was produced Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were still in collage. The NBA had not yet began to sign big time contracts and attendance was only high in places like Los Angeles and New York. Boston's reign was over and the NBA/ABA merger was complete. Now Dr. J was the man in the ABA but the more popular league was eager to see just what the Doctor could do in the so-called big league. Of course he didn't disappoint. Having said the above, I want you to look at this movie as a coming out party for the NBA as fas as glitter and fame goes. It was the first time those who saw this movie got to see a prelude of what was to come. Big time players, jam packed staduims, fancy uniforms, and let's not forget the famous Marv Albert at his very best! In summary, this was a great soundtrack as well although I still haven't been able to locate it. If you take the time to watch this movie it will not dissappoint you. Enjoy!!!
