Description

Pilgrim's Progress: Journey to Heaven is a modern adaptation of John Bunyan's beloved classic tale. Amazing visual effects, beautiful locations and a wonderful cast bring to life the story that has inspired each generation for hundreds of years. Follow Christian and his companions on the great journey from the City of Destruction to the gates of Heaven. Along the way, the pilgrims face obstacles large and small, man-made and demon spawned. Beyond the gripping drama, Bunyan's powerful allegory teaches us the hazards and hopes of the Christian life, and the triumphant glory that awaits all who faithfully follow the King of Kings!

  • Although Christian... not a good movie

I have read the original Pilgrim’s Progress and other modern retellings including children’s versions. Although this movie is somewhat faithful to the story in the amount of time given. It is poorly done. With all the modern technology available to make a great fantasy/sci-fi film, it lacked in so many ways that it was not only boring and lackluster but was almost laughable. Don’t waste your money on this film simply because it’s Christian. It is so discouraging to find anyone giving this film 4 or 5 stars. In an age where our youth and adults are drawn to Harry Potter, Super Heroes, & Zombie movies as Christians we should do just as well and better. I’m sure this movie might help a child but the acting, visual effects & costumes sorely lacked any believability.
  • A Faithful retelling

I have read Pilgrims Progress and watched the film. This is I believe a faithful retelling especially with the added map that follows the character's path. The film is a modern retelling which makes it accessible to everyone, yet it does not leave the path so to speak by creating a film that is not dependable in it's trustworthiness of the book. you can Just about follow the book in your head while watching the film. but read the book first. you'll get more out of the film.

If you are an English major then you have come across Pilgrim's Progress in one form or another. This movie however is a terrible attempt at brining a piece of classic literature to life. The people giving this a 4 to 5 star review do not care about quality, all they care about is that this is a christian themed movie. Its a shame, I have always looked forward to the day that someone would take the time, and care, to bring P.P. to life on the big screen, this is not it.
  • I love the truth of this movie!

I enjoyed this movie thoroughly. I loved how the book was read as Christian was on his journey. I highly recommend this movie. God doesn't leave us alone to figure out life by ourselves. He brings helpers to help us in every leg of our journey while here on this earth. Oh man, this was an awesome movie. Based on the Truth, and so engaging and entertaining!

Bunyan, an Anglican turned Baptist, wrote this piece. It's an amazing story that speaks to the minds and hearts if Christians and non Christians alike. This film pays homage this work. BRAVO!

I highly recommend this movie to Christians and non-Christians. It truly explains so much about God and his kingdom. They say, "a picture is worth a thousand words." This picture is worth much more it truly brought me to tears. I rented it but now I'm going to purchase it for my iPad. I plan to share it with others.
