Description

Executive Producer Jada Pinkett Smith brings you "Rape For Profit", a powerful documentary the Huffington post calls, "Disturbing and Provocative". Set against the backdrop of Seattle's downtown city lights, "Rape For Profit" takes the audience undercover for an up-close look at the true nature of the sex trade. The film unveils a growing problem in major U.S. cities where girls as young as 12 years old are bought and sold as many as 15 times a night to service the desires of men. Experience the shocking truth and follow several heroes as they fight to end this modern-day slavery and stop the next generation of buyers.

  • So predictable...

…stop acting like women are victims, they do what they wanna do, for money. Greed, laziness, the quick path.

This film is heartbreaking, shocking, and definitely very hard to watch. But it must be watched to understand the horrific mistreatment of women (and men in the same trade) going on in our backyards. These are not anomalies. This is real.

An 8th grader with shaky hands could have done a better job filming this movie. The message of the movie is obvious and derivative. Nothing new or novel. Prepare for a lot of blurred out faces and bad camera angles.
  • Excellent

Very good film, shot in a bit of a guerilla style. The filmmaker takes a moral approach, and in some scenes is seen openly confronting suspected 'Johns' about their decision to buy a prostitute. The film is worth seeing for the appearance of 'Darly' alone, who confidently tells her shocking story in explicit detail. Her appearance, particularly the moments that she claims her physical ugliness as a cherished safety blanket, elevates this film from good to excellent.
  • Interesting but overrated

I see a lot of "Must See" comments which make me wonder if the movie is recommended in some forum to encourage recommendations. It is a n interesting documentary, but not far from a long episode of cops. I feel terrible for the victims and women in the documentary. However, more empowerment of women and less cops telling "Johns" off would send a better message and get to more of the root of the problem. Some of the cops seemed too preachy when no pimp is going to admit to what they are doing.

This film wrecked me in all the right ways. I had no idea this existed in my backyard of Seattle. I hope this film gets national recognition to bring about more awareness of this industry and that the victims and John's find a way out. Well done.

Mew films created this out of the ordinary documentary that will change the way any man will look at women. Truly inspiring and will rattle your bones. Well done.
