If you have BOTH knowledge and interest in America's criminal court system, this will be at minimum, interesting. First show to focus on the different philosophy between the District Attorney and Public Defender offices. Weaves drama throughout each episode while maintaining ongoing storylines. For The People could use a couple more characters and perhaps a more captivating storyline, but still giving this a 5 star because I'm hooked. I'm also a law student and the "anti-prosecution" is a real thing. DA's are given strict guidelines on minimum sentencing, pleasant facilities, and the DA's mission is to enforce the law. PD's are not nearly as glorified, paid absolutely nothing, and the PD's mission is to provide every person with their right to Due Process. I understand the issues with a mediocre storyline, but expecting extraordinary trial skills in a tv drama is like expecting a Stevie Wonder performance at the County Fair - a highly unlikely affair.

Her trial skills were cringe-worthy, and the political undertones of this show were blatantly obvious. This felt more like watching the news than a good TV drama. Also, what’s up with the clear anti-prosecution bias?

Good TV, light but engaging. I'll definately tune in for the rest of the season. Not enough drama on TV these days so a welcomed addition!
