Description

See the past rebuilt in stunning detail in the new hit series from The History Channel®, Lost Worlds. The history of human civilization parallels the history of its cities. From Athens under the rule of Pericles to the Jerusalem that Jesus knew, the great cities of the past defined the eras in which they were built and shaped the minds of countless generations. These places embodied the knowledge and beliefs of entire societies within their walls — and yet due to the vagaries of history, these worlds are lost to us, buried beneath the ruins of time and memory. Following a team of historical detectives, The History Channel® recreates these vanished places in stunning detail, piecing together ancient clues using evidence from recent excavations, scientific studies, and historical documents to reconstruct these long-dormant locales. As the clues are gathered, the award-winning graphics team rebuilds each city wall by wall. The result is a stunning collection of historically accurate and beautiful visions of cities once long lost.

  • The Pagans -- A Bit Shallow

I've only watched the episode "The Pagans," and I'm disappointed. The narration is too breathless and sensationalistic, and the "we can now reconstruct..." phrase is used far too often. That phrase seems to imply that some of the information was only just discovered. (I have some books with similar information that is 20 years older than this series). I was also disappointed that the reconstructions, at least in this episode, were far less interesting than expected. "The Tomb of the Eagles" segment in fact, had a reconstruction that was nothing but the existing chambers with the addition of some scattered bones.

Churchhill's Secret Bunkers is the best show I've seen in a while since Fetch
  • Sensationalist garbage.

Even the DaVinci Code is more historically accurate than this! This isn't history! The filmmakers place too much blind reliance on myth, religion, and tradition and don't use historical criticism to consider the fact that many of these events may never have actually happened. The best that can be said for this show is that it is mildly entertaining.
  • A Must-Buy for any History fan!!!!

This is one of the most exciting and informative show series on the History Channel. While one of my other favorite shows (Digging for the Truth) focuses on how things look in the present, Lost Worlds shows incredible computer footage of what places looked like during their time. Its enough to give you chills and make you want to buy more! I have downloaded 5 episodes with more on the way!
  • I love this stuff!!!!!

Informative and entertaining this series shows you the worlds of the ancients in a totally new way. Stuff like Atlantis (Knossos, Crete) and the Pagans is little known, yet fascinating history that Lost Worlds bings to life on TV
  • Interesting

Lost Worlds, as a whole, is a very interesting concept and reality. The most interesting part to me is how a large amount of otherwise boring information can come to life.
  • Informative but..

If you own Apple TV, this series is not for you. There are definitely some encoding issues and the video quality suffers. Notably, the Ramses episode has some de-interlacing problems. Very annoying. The episodes are however interesting, containing a lot of info about some lost worlds that you probably don't really know to much about.
  • Well produced, perhaps not well researched

I've only watched the Atlantis episode so far but I do plan on downloading more. I found the episode very enjoyable to watch but felt like the researchers skipped over a great deal of known facts and jumped to assumptions about where and when Atlantis existed. In the end this is an engrossing, if one sided, tale of a lost world.
  • The First Chritians

Discusses the building of pagan temples and roman roads more than what the lives of the first christians were like. Very superficial treatment.
