Iron Chef America, Season 11

I am a long time fan of the show, having watched the original version when it aired on the Food Network. For the last few years, Food Network has done a wonderful job faithfully adapting the show for US television and the 11th season continues to sustain the high quality with great chefs, (mostly) great judges, and great commentary (Alton Brown is so perfect for this show). This season brings a couple of new "gimmicks" ... the first dish must be presented in 20 minutes and later the Chairman introduces a surprise element that must be incorporated. While the surprise element does not seem to add anything to the show, the 20 minute first course definitely increases the pressure for the chefs. It also helps naturally bridge to the judging, as we get to see the judges and get a feel for their styles earlier in the show. Over the last few seasons, Iron Chef has added a lot of new faces, not all of whom I'm thrilled with. The Tournament of Champions battles in this season, however, have been pretty interesting ... in particular the Garces v. Morimoto battle, which is amazing. If you're a fan of the original, you won't be disappointed with this season.

Love Iron Chef but I am not sure why no season pass for this season.. That is why I rated it lower.
