Description

Téa Leoni stars as Elizabeth McCord, the shrewd, determined, newly appointed Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home. A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returns to public life at the request of the President following the suspicious death of her predecessor. The President values her apolitical leanings, her deep knowledge of the Middle East, her flair for languages and her ability to not just think outside the box, but to not even acknowledge there is a box. McCord's team includes her Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver, speechwriter Matt Mahoney, press coordinator Daisy Grant and her charming assistant Blake Moran. When McCord debates third world problems, finesses foreign dignitaries at work and does battle with the President's combative Chief of Staff Russell Jackson, it's just a warm-up for when she goes home to her supportive husband, Henry, and their bright children, where "politics" and "compromise" take on new meaning.

Will Hollywood please stop making political TV shows? They might as well just label it a Democrat Party Advertisement…although advertisements are more entertaining.

From the scenery to the set, the cast to the writers, directors and producers, Madam Secretary got "this one" right. The plot is seeded by what we have read in the newspapers, a brilliant interwoven design to give the imaginative, inquiring mind a bit of truth within the cloudy mystery of the real-world in DC. This is a fresh concept to bridge the viewer's speculation and preconceptions between what we know, what we don't know, and bridges the gap between rich entertainment and truth, deception, tragedy, culture, and ultimately, the humbled heart. The human condition that we as a society often miss is part of the fabric and soulful rhythm of this series, and the top talent is shining on. I sincerely believe that this is only the beginning of an award winning, game changer for a Television Series, and hope the decision makers are listening and reading the honest viewer feedback and knowing that many of the few negative reviews are from those who wouldn't be pleased with anything. Keep it real - and keep it going! Season 2, 3, 4, 5... You got it? Good!
