Introducing Darlene Love

This piece of artistry just restores my faith in you Manitee. The music is overwhelmingly delicious and the backstory about this woman is even better. This is great music and I thoroughly enjoy the entire album. You go girl! And props to Stevie Van Zandt to help make this happen.

Her voice is strong and pure. Definite Bruce, EStreet, Southside influence. Grammy-worthy and a top artist getting her due. Can't wait to see her at BB Kings in January

It’s about time that Darlene got on her own newly recorded mainstream record. If Phil Spector had Darlene record River Deep, Mountain High instead of the lame Tina Turner rendition, rock & roll history would have been altered. Darlene’s version of RD,MH first heard on Broadway in Leader of the Pack is one of the top 10 of all time and thankfully appears here. The last track, Jesus is the Rock (That Keeps me Rolling) deserves greatness in spite of the gospel tilt that may keep it from widespread acclaim.

Great songs, big production, huge voice. If you love great music you'll love this.

Darlene has one of the great all-time voices, so rich and full. SVZ is great producer and (IMO) gets no-where near the credit he deserves. This is a sensational production, with excellent song choices. These are NOT throw-away songs from Bruce, Elvis or Des Barres. River Deep, Mountain High > OH MY, what a marvelous version. Think about this; Jimmy Webb and Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil have songs here too that are great. Mann/Weil are among the great classic songwriters of our time; their contribution is worth the price of admission here. AND, I personally love any SVZ written song, Im a huge fan; Among the Believers…such a good song from his 2nd album (Voice of America). I enjoyed the Joan Jett tune Little Liar as well. All around GREAT Album. Enjoyable.

After "20 Feet From Stardom" I was looking foward to Darlene Love finally having her "Nick of Time" moment. I wanted to see her gather some top-notch songs and record her highlight album. This collection is just the opposite. I cringed and my heart sank. This sounds like rejects from her "Paint Another Picture" LP of the 80s. That incredible voice is there but the songs are so sadly forgettable. Not one melody stuck in my mind. This chould have been her moment, her breakthrough that I've been waiting since 1965 to see. Oh well..... maybe next time. Please!!!!

This is the best album of the year and definitely Grammy material. Her strong voice, beautifully written new material and an outstanding production by Stevie Van Zandt put this record into a special category. Every song a hit, big wall of sound....what a great tribute to this legendary musical artist.

I went to the CD Release concert last night and heard most, if not all, of the songs. Top-notch songwriters and a powerhouse voice guarantees that this CD will deliver. I can't wait!
