No mater heavy or mild guitar I love how he plays. I can listen. To this album all the time. I like all stuff Zakk does as a musician.

I have listened to this album over a hundred times and I still get teered up. These lyrics are genius, very touching. Thank you Zakk
  • Not nearly as good as Book of Shadows I

The first Book of Shadows was outstanding - front to back. This follow up lacks the vocal melodies of the original. I was REALLY hoping to like this CD.

Zakk's creative spirit comes alive in every one of these ballad-like songs. Very impressive!

I stumbled onto this album pretty much by accident. I need to stumble more often. I previewed a few of the songs and said to myself, "Hey this is pretty good". So I downloaded it. It's more than pretty good. This album grew on me right from the first listen. And it's grown on me even more with each subsequent listen. "Tears of December" is the best song I've heard in probably a decade. If you look at this guy and listen to what he's done with Black Label Society you wouldn't possibly think he could write something that would touch the emotions and the soul. Yet he does. And he does it with aplomb. While some of this reminds you of artists like Greg Allman and Lynyrd Skynyrd (not a bad thing obviously), it's not some ripoff copy. It's unique with obvious influences. It more than stands on it's own. I just hopped in my Mustang GT earlier and had Book of Shadows 2 in the CD player. It's a gorgeous day and I didn't stop driving until the entire CD had been played. Need I say more ? A CD like this is the ultimate set of road tunes..... I like a smattering of heavy metal as much as the next guy. And I'm not saying he should dismiss his heavy metal connections. But this stuff is on another level in my opinion and I hope he does more of it. Get this.....I guarantee you will not be disappointed. GJA April/2016
  • Nothing like it

There is nothing like Zakk. In a world of garbage from Drake and Iggy, Zakk is a desert oasis. Darkest Hours is beautiful and haunting at the same time. And it seems that he's been taking vocal lessons. We know Zakk is a pro and this album reminds us why we need to pay homage to a current great and see him live.
  • Great follow up

If you know his first solo album, you know he has a softer side. This album is more mature vocally and shows the influences he has picked up over the last twenty years. Really good album. Goes great with Valhalla Java on a Sunday morning.
