Couchville Sessions

I wrote a more descriptive review under his album "Theater of the Outstanding" so I won't go as in depth here, but as all his albums, they are all fantastic, I mean really fantastic! His songs are so diverse, one song can be electric and bad $&!!, the next could have horns in it, another could be slide Dobro or beautiful acoustic with great harmonies.

Love everything on this album. Very traditional but a strong variety. The only issue is that "It's About Time" is not that song. It is downloading as "It's Another Day" so you get that song twice. It's About Time is a beautiful song that we arent' getting on Itunes. Other than that digital hickup, I love this artist and his new (2001) music.

On Darrell Scott's new album, Couchville Sessions, he serves to us a combination of nine original and five cover tunes composed by artists whom Daryll says have been his heroes... I have eagerly been waiting for this release, as Daryll has been one of my heroes and all time favorite songwriters! In his usual magical manner, Darryl tells us stories, new and old, which emotionally engage us. He always manages to transport us to a place of heartfelt joy and sorrow, unique to his interpretation of love and loss in life and relationships. Darrell's rendition of the Townes Van Zandt song "Loretta," one of my favorite Van Zandt songs, was rich in lyrical musicality and would have put a smile on Townes' face! Several songs which tell of the pain which accompanies love and loss, such as "Love is the Reason," "It's Time to Go Away" and "This is the Love Song" remind us why Darrell is a master story teller who teaches us how to celebrate life and mourn the losses which sometimes come along for the ride...
