Took the words right out of my mouth. NMTF was a revelation - a completely unique sound in indie-pop-electro. Mø came off as a enigmatic, intriguing couldn't-give-a-f•••, new star and I was so excited to see her get buzz and recognition. I'm completely confused by the new direction. The shift from producing with Ronni Vindahl (NMTF) to Diplo and the likes is painfully palpable. Kamikaze, Final Song, and Drum all sound like run-of-the-mill teeny bopper stuff, where Mø's previous work had a rough, haunting edginess to it. I wish Karen all the success in the world and just hope and pray for a "Chapter 2" of the original sound sometime in the future. Whether this is all Mø's own choice or the pressure from labels and "hitmakers', I'm not sure - but the massive talent so evident in the early EPs and first album seems completely squashed in this new stuff. I miss *your* sound, Mø.

I am usually the most forgiving person when it comes to stylistic changes in music; I can appreciate it when someone wants to explore a new style/ genre. I have been a huge fan of Mø for a long time and I remember when "Lean On” first came out and was a hit and I was so happy that she made it! All of “No Mythologies to Follow” has to be tied for my favorite album of all time, even now. But honestly, this is nothing like what she used to do. I could hear less and less Mø in all of her singles since “Kamikaze.” It was… sad. When “Final Song” came out, I still had hope. But with this and “Cold Water” I feel like she is settling for the money and less than the feeling. I cried the first time I heard “New Years Eve” because it was so beautiful and now I’m crying listening to “No Mythologies to Follow” because I’m worried that Mø is gone for good. She used to make me feel. There is magic in old Mø. I miss it.
