  • Amazing Return!

Having been a huge Ride fan back in the day (I had the pleasure of seeing them on the Leave It All Behind Tour with Slowdive), this album was way better than I expected from the boys after a 20 year layoff. These songs shimmer with the free-floating grace of all the best Ride tracks, especially Rocket Silver Symphony, which is a blast of euphoria and hands down my favorite song of 2017. The only mild complaint I have is that one of my favorite tracks on the album, Home is a Feeling, is undone by a very muddy and bass heavy mix. Man, I hope they remix this song at some point, becuse it is so epic!! Other than that, the is one of the best albums of the year and worth your time and money.

I have been listening to this album for a while and have seen the tour. I agree with a lot of other reviews in regard to that this is not necessarilly an attempt at some of the previous releases. However, I feel that it has updated sounds to show that they are not stuck in the 90's shoegazer days. There is enough of an old friend feel but new enough to make it interesting. Solid album for a 20 year hiatus.

After 3 mos of listening since it’s release, Ride’s return after 20 years is a highly satisfying listen that deserves to be on all year-end “Best of” lists. Just like their best albums of the early 90’s, Weather Diaries is a return to form blend of Indie Rock, Shoegaze and Dream Pop that old fans and first timers will increasingly enjoy with each repeated listen. Album highlights include Cali, Lannoy Point, Charm Assault, Weather Diaries, Rocket Silver Symphony and Integration Tape for it’s pure dream pop. A slight drop-off occurs on the album’s final two cuts.

RIDE was always one of my favorite bands back in the early 90's. This album is outstanding as they experimented a bit with the sound while still maintaining that authentic RIDE sound. Cant say enough good things about this reunion album.

Ok here's the deal. If all your hopes are pinned on Nowhere or GBA versions 2.0 and you give this one quick listen you might be disappointed. Most great albums need to be digested, slowly, and Weather Diaries is no exception. This is unmistakably a Ride album with classic Ride elements, but made even better with new influences, sounds and textures. The songwriting is strong, the guitars are loud and the production is top notch. Ride are back and it's a great, great thing.

You mean you guys were holding this delightful ear candy in reserve for 20 years?! Thrilled with the comeback effort, lads! Built on the foundation of the early material (listen closely and you'll hear the echoes of Nowhere and Leave Them All Behind, among other songs), yet still fresh and infectious. Thank you in advance for the countless hours I'll be enjoying this album this summer. You've been sorely missed, and it's great to have you back!
  • Awful

I truly can't believe how bad this album is. The lyrics are so middle school, the melodies are just plodding, boring attempts to recreate the Ride sound. It's an attempt to create a pop version of Ride, it seems. The atmosphere is gone and the instrumental passages are non existent. What a shame.
  • This is how you do it!

THIS is how you do a COME BACK ALBUM! It's everything you'd dream of for Ride & more. YES!
  • New sound but ultimately it's RIDE at its best.

I know most fans love the early stuff and hate "Carnival of Light" but I'm one of the few that actually likes that album. It's a difficult act to evolve while staying true to your sound but RIDE did it with this album. The first track is a completely different sound for them, but ultimately it's RIDE at its best. There is very little fat on this album. All the tracks are good.

I remember being introduced to Ride while working at Blockbuster Music in the mid 90's! This new album is long overdue and I cannot wait to hear the remaining tracks.
