  • EAZY E, OR IS IT NWA?

Eazy E obviously grew as a rapper by the time this dropped. We all seen the movie, we all heard the stories, how Eazy rapped each line one at a time and had them pieced together in post. Him shining on every track here is proof of that, that he grew, but at the end of the day, this feels like an NWA record, with Eazy E playing the Michael Jackson of the group, getting the spotlight. This isn’t a bad thing, it’s a plus, except calling it a solo album would be a stretch in my opinion. MC Ren, Dr. Dre, they get a lot of time on the mic. If anything, MC Ren shined the most on this album. The dude had a delivery that rivaled Cube’s. To this day, I’m scratching my head as to why Ren never blew up. I have my theories. If NWA’s Straight Outta Compton album did it for you, consider this a part 2. A continuation. Just think more Eazy and less Cube this time around. If only this could have been their second album. Just add a little Ice Cube and it would have been, even if unofficially.
