  • Why?

SDS has always been spotty. They’ve had really great moments with certain albums, then gone and made stuff like this. I wish everybody would just get off the Hillsong crap, it’s not genuine. It’s repetitive and dull, it keeps repeating the same theme over and over: God’s this and that, give us a miracle, etc. Hollowing out things that should be meaningful while avoiding saying the things that need to be said; things that praise God in individual ways, disregarding how others think we should praise. But the modern Pharisees don’t like that, so we appease them rather than take the stoning. I’m so tired of songs like Way Maker and See a Victory; whatever happened to praising God for even the color green or the Dakota prairies (Rich Mullins, anyone?)? What happened to comparing Jesus to the tenderness of a hamburger in one’s microwave? Or songs like All the Heavens? Well, if we can’t handle Reckless Love because it dares state that God’s love is reckless then we certainly can’t handle that level of praise. CCM starting in 2010 has made me almost embarrassed to be a Christian. But these guys certainly try, I’ll give them that. They shouldn’t cover Hillsong and others; they should write their own worship music and make it individual. Their regular albums save for Found are good, they really ought to have their worship be the same.

I’ve been listening to these guys for years, since their first album. They took a hiatus and I assumed they fell down like so many others. Not to be…not SDS! They came back on this album with a punch like none other to some of the best Christian songs around. Like some have already mentioned, many of these songs have been completely obliterated by the pop’y/punk’y mess that seems to permeate most Christian rock today. SDS brings their edgy vocals mixed with heavy chords to bring these songs a new found energy and life to those of us who still love and thirst for the message in a heavier format (such is life). These guys are phenomenal and I hope this is only the beginning of a new era of SDS tearing it up like never before. Well done!

I've been a hard rocker for almost 40 years. Listening to your typical Christian worship music has never been my favorite past time. Though the message is positive, the pop/dance style coupled often with the 'snap track' has never appealed to me. Seventh Day Slumber has put a fresh metal spin on these what are considered classics among the Evangelical Christian community especially. Now I can truly appreciate these pieces which appeal to my heavy guitar, bass, drums and vocal sensibilities. Thanks to 7DS for helping these songs become all things to all men!
  • Excellent worship project

Some of these songs have been beaten into the ground at church. For example- if I hear Waymaker one more time at church..... waymaker is probably my favorite track on this record. 7DS has never disappointed. They’re a swell group of guys and they’ve always stood by what is right.
