It may not be traditional country or rap, but the songs are uplifting, have a great mix of sound and I love his voice. Open your mind, close your eyes and just listen. Give this crossover genre a chance, it will unite a lot of people, which is so desperately needed right now.

My best friend just sent me one of his song so I looked up his other music. I love it! The vocals, lyrics, the beat… all of it. Great mixture of pop, Christian & country!

Its not country. At all. Its rap featuring some country artists. Why dont they just make a new genre; country pop? It will fix all the issues man.

Nah man. It’s rap. Not sure how this qualifies as country. Destroy the roots, you kill the tree. Send this over to hip-hop where it belongs

I’m a long time R&B, funk and hip hop fan. I’ve only ever bought one country album by Dwight Yoakam. This is my second. Like every good country singer, Lathan Warlick is a great storyteller, but he’s blackified country, giving it a backbone with that bass. He added a little flavor to the genre, took it back to its roots, which black artists helped created. I love it. I’ll be blasting it in my car all summer. When I saw Lathan and Rae Lynn on Tamron Hall, I went online looking for the album. I love the song Roots and Country Over Yonder, which I catch myself humming throughout the day. It makes me homesick for the South.
  • For What It’s Worth

He’s definitely talented and seems like a FGL opener, but for me to reach and label this as Country, I just can’t really... I mean, he’s obviously got twang, and a lot of artists get by with sneaking a few Hip-Hop/Pop songs in an album, but the whole thing is carpet-bombed with digital instrumentals.... I wouldn’t mind calling it Country if there were at least raw musical instruments behind his vocals, but this is essentially, a rapper with a twang, singing over simple beats. 4 stars because it doesn’t sound bad, but I deduct for misplacement... though, if his direction is Country, then he’s simply trying to be sought out by artists of the genre, in which, the rap genre would pass this off in a heartbeat. Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, hope he finds his niche.
