Nevermind (30th Anniversary Super Deluxe)

The album remaster does not sound good to my ears but I bought this set because the 4 live shows are worth it to me. If sold individually, the price of these 4 would still come out to the same cost as this set. As for the album, the original 1991 CD is the best. The 2011 remaster is inferior to the original but better than this one. The 4 live shows here belong with the 2011 super deluxe set. I would not buy the physical copy of this set, but 40 bucks for these live shows on digital format is worth it to me.

From other reviews I didn’t know this album was ever remastered before now I never really liked these guys much they have a few catchy songs but there no Berkeley virtuosos they just got lucky allot of people don’t really care for that kind of mastery of music anyway I played the original and then I played this one it actually sounds very very good they did a nice job mastering it I have very high quality speakers and I can definitely tell this sounds very clear now

Saw these guys in 1992, in all honestly they were not fantastic musicians…if Kurt were alive today, he’d mostly likely be an acoustic singer-songwriter as that was his strength. @moviefan…I play three instruments, and compose my own music. Been doing so since the early 90’s, and the grunge bands (green river, Melvins, Mudhoney, and so forth) started me on that road. So, it would seem that perhaps you were not alive back then and have seen the passage of time differently. Technically they were not great, as barre chords are very basic. However, Kurt (and Dave) were great songwriters. I think the “sampling” effect in contemporary times is mainly used to attract potential customers , not really some form of worship. You know, riding on the coattails of a dead man so to speak. The main draw for me back then (as I am ‘gen x’) is that they were a group of normal losers who had found success, and that gave inspiration. From their point of view then, as they were very anti-establishment, the current worship of Kurt most likely would’ve caused him to drop out of the public eye as that was opposite of his belief system.

Another inferior remaster. The live releases on this set sound like cassette bootlegs if anything. Save your money and just get 1996 remasters and Live and Loud, Live at Reading and Live at a the Paramount.

But dude, how many times are you going to release the same album?

Classic album, love it, but holy money grab.

The mix on the studio versions of the songs takes the life out of them. The best part about Nirvana was even their recorded songs almost sounded like a live session. You can tell they pitch corrected Kurt’s vocals, and cleaned up the audio so much to the point that it sounds like radio rock. This is too clean to be Nirvana. If you love Nirvana, don’t buy this. Don’t even listen to it. Seriously. If i bought this in physical form i’d almost be more upset that it would have to take up space in my garbage can that i could give to some piece if garbage that actually had a purpose for existing before it became garbage. This remaster was born garbage and will die garbage.

It's inevitable that an iconic album such as this will be remastered and rereleased over and over again every 10 years in an "anniversary edition". All I can say is this one sounds better than the last one. I'd take my originally 1991 CD over any of them, but since I don't have it anymore this will do. And for those complaining about it being a "money grab"... welcome to the real world. This is the business... as long as people keep buying it they'll keep repackaging it. If Cobain cared so much he shouldn't have offed himself.

In ten years they can release Nevermind (40th Anniversary Uber Deluxe)
