A great workout from the group that would go on to create "Kind of Blue" the following year. "At Newport" is proof that Miles' first great quintet had amazing energy on stage as well as the studio and they didn't need to do several takes to create the best music they could. Many of these songs are standards that Miles would play for years after, but this is the best they have ever sounded.
