I’ve heard of Ava Max for a couple years but never got into her. This is the only album I’m buying from her because the previous 2 her producer and best friend contributed to them and stabbed her in the back. Other than the true life drama, I’m supporting this young artist- clever writing, outstanding voice, with a hint of true promise in her career. WE SUPPORT YOU AVA!! 🙌🏽✨🥂

Listen, I loved some of the first album and thought the second was a big step up. I have both on vinyl. But I am eyerolling so hard at the same melody being used on half of this album. You’re recycling the same melody from several songs on your debut and it was stale THEN. Tired of the Gaga comparisons? Find your own image, then. You unfortunately don’t seem to have one. Beautiful voice. Beautiful woman. No vision. Just other people’s vision.

Ava Max has now done her textbook-level basic dance-pop for three albums in a row now, and it’s totally fine for a popstar to have her schtick (that’s what makes popstars interesting), it’s just… not a very interesting schtick.
The general consensus of this album, of which I agree with, is that most of the singles are the worst songs on the album, and the deep cuts were the best. “How Can I Dance” is definitely a highlight, I like the only decent single, “Lovin’ Myself” and “World’s Smallest Violin” is one of best songs. The other singles “Lost Your Faith” and “Wet Hot American Dream” are trainwrecks, and the rest of it is just the same boring dance-pop she always.
Idk, I’d say this is collectively her worst album, (and the terrible album rollout didn’t help) but not by much. Most of what she does is pretty much the same 🤷♂️
