I'm passionate about this album! It is the soundtrack to my first world tour -- I simply love it and every song resonates with me on so many levels -- especially on the dance floor. This is a great party album!

Well done to Simon & Max, the duo of Shape:UK (Shapeshifters outside the U.S.). In addition to three of the best vocal dance/house anthems of the past few years (2004's "Lola's Theme" — #1 UK; #1 US Dance Radio Airplay; 2005's "Back To Basics" — #10 UK; #1 US Dance Club Play, 2006's "Incredible" — #12 UK), the group continues to explore the other layers of dance music on the rest of the tracks. "You Never Know", "Instead of Falling" and "Over You" highlights the softer and slower aspects of dance with surprisingly passionate and personal vocals and lyrics. (Cookie, who sings on he house anthems mentioned above sings on "You Never Know" and "Over You".) "Beautiful Heartache" and "Really Feel" moves the vocals way to the background and brings forward the electronica creating a strong after-hours vibe. Although the last tracks, "If In Doubt, Go Out"; "Little Green Men" and "Route One" do not have any vocals, they do reflect a sense of longing and searching (perhaps of the citizens of West London?) certainly rounding out the collection. My only criticism is that I would like about ten more songs like "Incredible" (just b/c I love that song so much). With that said, this album is must have for your collection and let's hope Shape:UK brings us much more music going forward.
  • Must hear 'You Never Know'...one of the best pop songs ever.

The song 'You Never Know' is one of the best pop songs I've ever heard. Amazing vocals, lush harmonies, moody chord progression and melodies, and thought-provoking original lyrics as well. Great stuff lads...more like that song!

Amazing vocals and incredibly funky beats sure you get your attention. Perfect for a work environment with a retro flare. It's music you can listen to and not feel overwhelmed... Just what the laid back clubber ordered.
  • Buying this album would be "sound advice!"

Where do I begin? These guys really surprised me with this. I had a couple of their singles from before this came out, so I knew they were good, but this album is 10x better than what I ever would have expected it to be! The first 4 songs are phenomenal, my favs, along with "Back to Basics." While those are my personal highlights, don't discount the rest of the album. There is NOT a bad song on here!
  • Accessible, danceable, uplifting.

Shape:UK is best known for their dancehall great "Lola's Theme", so if you liked that one, there's a lot to like on Sound Advice. Sure, there's a certain sameness to much of the material, but if you've found a sound that gets people moving, why mess with success? The sound of this CD is bright, clean and thumping, in a likable, "up wth people" kind of way. No ganstas poppin' caps here! Just poppy, peppy, please the sweaty crowds fun.
