One of the very best albums of the early seventies. It still sounds great. There's not a bad cut on the whole recording! 5 stars!

Dying to Live was sampled by Eminem and used for a 2pac and Notorious BIG sample. The song is called Runnin' (Dying to Live). I found this in that way, and I ended up purchasing the entire album. This song, released in 1971, whether you know it or not, has an entirely different meaning for the Hip-Hop community, and I don't see that noted here. Their killings were memorialized within this song. I knew 2pac personally, and every time I hear this song, it makes me cry...and if you knew me, I don't cry much at all. He was a good friend. Fantastic artist. If only they would have heard this song before they took actions within themselves, and the people that took action in thier behalf would have listened to this message, we would have them here today. Instead, only the chorus reminds me of what might have been. Indeed, if my generation that was born before this song was released would have been given the message within this song, everything would have been different. Timeless. Respect given. Thank you.

Outstanding writing and playing that blows away half the "blues" on the market. Soulful, hard-rocking. I'll be dancing in my shoes today.
  • One the best on inspiration and soul.

Edgar is the the soul Brother Rock seems to have over looked. But those who seek out the best of the 60's and 70's decades song writers know that Edgar is a cut above the rest and don't forget how good he is on the Alto Sax with his strong Jazz overtones. I don't know of any one in music who has a voice as stong as Edger Winter. I also consider his first LP called Enterance to be a must for any true Blues Jazz and Rock fan.
