This album was so different than her previous efforts, and I just wasn't sure at first. Exploring the music of Brazil was a bold move and Angelique Kidjo had eventually won me over once again. "Tumba" is on FIRE.

Tumba is the $%^&!!! Talk about moving at hyperspeed! Tracks 1,3, & 5 are slower, but lovely in their own right. I hate that I'm just now getting these songs.

I absolutly love Angelique Kidjo. I first heard a clip on NPR years ago and had to seek her out. This is an amazing album. A lucky bonus was finding my other love, Dave Matthews, singing on Iwoya! This is such an upbeat, positive and inspiring album.

Her style is unique and exceptional. I like the way she transition from one form of music to the next. She combine exceptionally the haitian, brazilian, jazz, and other form of african music together like no other. She truly play WORLD music. Now she got me hook in African music.... Her voice is so soothing that you forget all your problems when you are listening to her....

Angelique is the best rappa turnt sanga since T-Pain. I give her serious props fo her song Olofoofo. that took lots of guts, and it paid off. Bravo Angelique, bravo.

I first heard this wonderful singer as an opener with Josh Groban on his Awake tour, and even during her first song i knew i needed to buy a CD. Also stunning is that during the duet of Groban and Kidjo, his powerful voice had no impact on hers... she still sang strong. A MUST BUY CD IF A FAN OF AFRICAN MUSIC! Suggested songs: "Afirika", "Tumba", and "Iwoya"

I found this CD in a returned discount bin. WOW! My best find ever. Angelique begins each song with a soft slow almost chanting in native African language. But after thirty seconds she begin to cook. And what she cooks up is might tasty. The rhythms and the sounds are amazing. Her voice is cross between Celin Dion and Sade. She sings in African, English and French. Even if you don't understand the words, you get swept away by her range and variety. I recommend for the World Music novice Iwoya (sung with Dave Matthews in English), Tumba (written by Charlie Brown of Brazil) and Refavela (written by Gilbeto Gil, also of Brazil).

I have been a fan of Angelique Kidjo since I first heard the album Logozo....She has a great voice and makes it easy for you to appreciate the African Roots she comes from. She captures the great Afro-Brazilian Beats in this album which have influenced many Latin beats. This is one of the best yet to come and can not wait to see more. I have performed to her music in talent shows and have had positive responses from the judges and audience. Angelique is the greatest Afro-Pop singer and if you want to discover something fresh and new I suggest you get this album and the others..Aye, Fifa, Oremi. You will be suprised which other distinguished guest artist she has collaborated with and will enjoy her sound on all of these albums as well.
