  • The Essence of "World" Music

Highlights: "My Culture", "The Way You Dream", "Bushes", "Passion", "All Alone" For fans of new age, world, or even the electronic genres, there's probably something here for everyone. 1 Giant Leap puts together a surprisingly high quality collaboration between many different artists from around the world, strung together by an often ethereal ambient-electronic sound. The result is varied, like the musicians themselves. I would highly recommend purchasing the entire album for the full effect of the journey that 1 Giant Leap takes you on. I rated this 4 stars because although interesting and inspiring, there are only two or three of the songs from the album that I would listen to regularly. I also think the album as a whole is not mixed as well as it could be, starting out much stronger than it finishes.
  • Where can I buy the movie? Some more of the songs?

You can listen to all of it on You Tube. I want to see the series and can't find out how. This is so incredible. I got to see "Wounded in all the right places" and I'm in love. I'd love to be able to buy that song off of iTunes as well. Again for those who are upset about the sample you can hear it all on You Tube. AWESOME!
  • Cycle of life

"My Culture" should have been what I was singing everyday at school, instead of the national anthem. It captures a sentiment that I take very seriously - that you should respect your elders and where you come from, appreciate all that they have done, to pave the way to your success, but that every generation has to be able to make the neccessary adjustments to suit their times, even if it conflicts with what their elders have in mind for them. It's a cycle... kids do a lot of things at first that they don't want to do, but that help them out later in life... and then they ask parents to think in a way that upsets them at first, but that also helps them later on in their lives. It's the struggle between generations... of elders struggling and then not being able to see past their success, to give the kids a chance. Every kid deserves the chance to make something of themselves... with the help of adults.
  • “Dunya Salam” puts my soul at peace.

“Dunya Salam” is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Just as I feel about the “Amazing Grace” selections by the “Soweto Gospel Choir,” I also feel the same for this song. I want my soul to leave my body and join with the voice and music of this selection, and I want to live amongst them forever. My soul is truly at peace.
  • A Truly Global Album

This album is amongst the best global albums ever made. This album has artists from all over the world (barring latin american countries) who come together to create a wonderful sound with assorted musical instrument, myriad languages and divergent cultures. Put all together and the net result is an output of pure nectar. The music here is mind blowing. It's inspiring, lifting, emotional, binding and harmonic. If music was the religion of life, then this album play loud all over the world.
  • Misleading

I was disappointed when I purchased the song "All Alone". It began with a deeply meditative piece including the Armenian duduk, but degenerated into this grostesquely new age complete with a uninspired voice over. I would have appreciated if the sample iTunes provided fully illustrated this. At least it was only a dollar. Ugh.
  • Song sample times

You think that Apple could provide longer then 30 seconds to review a song. Or at least make their sample in the middle of the music instead of the begining. If I hadn't know which song I wanted I would have never know by the clip because the speaking doesn't happ until at least 1min 30sec.

This album is a gift to all who hear it. -Even more powerful with the film. I stumbled across it on the Ovation TV channel and was captivated. I've since downloaded it from iTunes, and have been playing it for everyone I know. There's something for everyone here. - Powerful and poetic musical themes woven together by a variety of rhythms, beautiful melodies carried by the instrumentalists and vocalists, contrasted by the spoken word. This project is beautifully brilliant!

I just graduated college. I heard "My Culture" at the gym the beginning of my freshman year. That song has defined me in college. I now say it's my favorite song when people ask. I knew nothing about the rest of this and am glad to have come across it on iTunes. I never knew music could be so inspiring.
