John Palumbo simply couldn't leave well enough alone and had to shove this remake down our throughts. It's awful. Just horrible! The original version is one of the best albms ever recorded and this is just a piece of crap. Is nothing sacred? In my humble opinion, Crack was at its best with Gary Lee Chapel on vocals. I guess John just couldn't live with that. Now we all know how much we miss Gary.

Buy the original 1978 recording, not this terrible remake. The original is one of my favorite albums of al times!! The vocals on this 2007 version sound half-hearted at best. In addition, the vocal effects are over-done and do not blend well with the instrumentation. After listeneing to this, I'd say that it was a blessing that John Palumbo sat out on the original masterpiece.

Very disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan . . . . I grew up on Crack The Sky and still love this the band, in all of it's various forms and all of it's members, but this redux version simply doesn't sound pleasing to the ear as the original. I don't know what John was thinking when he heard the tracks, but the vocals are not where they need to be and somebody within the inner circle should have been honest with him. For those who want Safety In Numbers, buy the original. I'd like to see John, Rick and the rest of the band concentrating more on the new, than revisiting the old. Crank up Rick's guitar again, it's time for some more innovative, edgy and provactive music that made CTS so great and unique in the first place!!
  • Stick with the original!

I cut my teeth listening to CTS and Saftey in Numbers was my first exposure. The swallow intro to Night on the Town was the first time my parents invoked the "What the H*** are you listening to?" I've only listenend to 30 seconds of these new version and will not be buying. JP sounds like he is trying to channel Peter Gabriel with his vocals. Now if only I could find clean versions of Live Sky to add to my library.

Sorry, but this sounds like JP did 30 years of smoking and tried effects to cover his now shot range. Even Crying Father sounded much better on his solo album of so many years ago. Recommend the new album "The Sale" over this poorly conceived attempt to cover a great album.

This is Crack The Sky's third album with the original John Palumbo vocals. It also includes three impressive bonus tracks. It is well worth the extra few dollars to purchase this version of the album over the one originally released if nothing else for the bonus tracks. However, re-releasing the original "Palumbo" version is simply wonderful, incredible and a treat to any true die hard "Crack The Sky" fan. No matter how outrageously talented all band members are in CTS, it is still, and always has been, Palumbo's band. Gary Lee Chappell did admirable vocals on the re-release, but it is John Palumbo who is the wild, wonderful, mystical presence on this and other CTS albums. I am so appreciative we have the original version now. The fact that it has bonus tracks from the same era is just enough to make you want to rejoice by dancing wildly with Aphrodite's pet Centaur. If you like Crack The Sky, you must buy. If you are new to this band, try listening to "Nuclear Apathy" or "Atlantic City" and you may find that you enjoy truly progressive music from one heck of an impressive and talented band. I feel they put Maryland on the map. Maryland is for Crack The Sky...not for crabs!!!
