Reviews

  • Strong, cohesive, and honest Childrens music you'll listen to.

Father Goose delivers a 'family album' that has many highlights. As with most of the Festival five records stuff, it's really good even if you're not a parent. I would recommend buying the whole CD because with records such as this there's a narrative element and you miss out on something if you're not careful. But standouts for me are 'By and By' (far superior remake of this old gospel song), music man (fun to sing w/ the kids), nah eat no fish, and reminisce.
  • Fun kids songs with the sound of the islands

Father Goose is someone I'd really like to meet. The songs on this album are just plain happy , light-hearted, and very catchy. After having this on the iPhone for 2 weeks now and having listened to it about 50 times in the car at the request of my sons, all of the songs are very catchy but our favorites are "Flying Machine," "Chi Chi Buddo," and "Come Down the Line." I always like spirituals so I like "By and By" too. Since all the songs are good except "Rambling Gibberish," which isn't a song, buying the whole lot makes it a little over $.50 per song and that's a good deal too. I first heard 'The Goose' on Dan Zanes "Catch That Train" album and they make a good pair. Dan did help produce this album and it shows. I think they changed the sample clips on this album too because the first time I went through the songs I wasn't sure I wanted to buy it. I listened again and it sounded very different and that's all it took for me to decide to buy this album.

We loved Father Goose's cameos on Dan Zanes' CDs and videos and are thrilled to have a full length album from him. Our kids request this album all the time, and yes, we play it off our iPod -- on our car stereo, clock radios, living room sound system, and good old fashioned headphones.
  • So much fun, you'll listen even without the kids!
