  • Excellent Collection!

A quality remastering and remix job of hard to find 12" inches from the late 70's. Unlike other remix projects, this one is truly worth it! I hope they do one like this for Chaka Khan. "Solid" & "Street Corner" would've been nice additions but A&S weren't on Warner Brothers when they released those in the 80's

Hey, Michael Jackson ain't the only one to have an anniversary. This could easily be Ashford & Simpson's 30th Anniversary release, and what a better way to treat their fans than with some hard-to-find promo-only remixes and some contemporary remixes that are faithful to the originals? I am thoroughly impressed with the modern remixes to some of my all-time classics and to some not-so-familiar songs. Mad props to Tommy Musto for his remix to "It Seems To Hang On" but props to all the remixers who gave us something more than just bandwagon mixes! This is my real "Thriller".
  • This is a "10" (no a "12")

Finally, a compilation of classic disco 12" singles performed by one of the best artists of the disco era. This album is pure magic. The new mixes are also spectacular. Now if we could get the same treatment for the likes of Grace Jones, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin.

Honestly, this CD is worth double the price just for the Tom Moulton remix of Found A Cure. It is said that this song inspired Relight My Fire by Dan Hartman a masterpiece in its own right. I would have loved a remix of Over and Over the Sylvester cover. Needless to say this CD is pure magic. Every song is important especially as we try to hold on and share what disco was about with the next generation. This is the gorgeous music we used to dance to people. If this was before your time then learn it. If you were there never forget it.

I've been looking for the 12" mix of "Don't Cost You Nothin"" since I first heard it at least 20 years ago. This entire collection is absolutely spectacular.

When I first read that Ashford & Simpson would be releasing a CD of the original 12" disco mixes of their most popular Warner Brothers songs (it does not include the 12" version of "Solid" which was recorded when they were on Capital Record) plus several contemporary remixes, I had mixed emotions. I was thrilled about the original 12" versions and was apprehensive about the remixes. However, after listening to these songs my concerns were unwarranted. This is a GREAT CD and a must buy for any Ashford and Simpson fan. The 12" Disco mixes capture Ashford and Simpson at their peak and the remixes are completely faithful to the original songs while subtly adding contemporary elements. There is not a disposable song in the package. Buy this album - you won't be disappointed. This is a terrific album of timeless dance music.

The most underrated and overlooked soulsters ever finally get their due with this awesome collection. Not only are there impossible-to-find cuts like "Tried, Tested and Found True" (btw iTunes thanks for expanding the A&S catalog) but the remixes are genuinely great and retain the R&B Val & Nick are famous for. The remix for "Found A Cure" is absolutely transcendent. I had forgotten how good "Top Of The Stairs" was, and one of their best pieces ever, "Stay Free" is on here in its original, flawless version along with a killer remix that just shows how contemporary their work really is. It's all timeless. Thank you, Nickolas & Valerie, for enriching all my life immeasurably with your music, and please, please, please keep on making it...
