This release from Music for Deep Relaxation captures the earthy melodies of the santoor, an instrument that will free your mind by drawing you into a state of pure relaxation. The santoor is a hammered dulcimer of Persian origin, often used by Sufi mystics as an accompaniment to their hymns. It is masterfully played by Dr. Sunil Katti who is also a composer and serves on the faculty of SNDT University, a prestigious music college in Mumbai, India. Each Music for Deep Relaxation CD is made with the utmost care and integrity of sound, designed to induce pure relaxation. We invite you to explore each one.

I was attracted to this album since I am a fan of Indian classical music. While the choice of ragas is good, the playing is pretty amateurish and elementary.

When I bought my first Ipod a couple of months ago I was determined to expand my horizons and venture to listen to new music. I wanted to buy music that I would be familiar with. When I read about this Instrument, Santoor, I was intrigued. I listened to a few of the sample tracks and it sounded new and interesting enough for me. I have to say that this instrument is amazing! Every time I listen to it I fall in Love a little more. Its soft, smooth and is filled with soul and character. I find it very relaxing and soothing. And also very cool! Do recommend if you are looking for something new and interesting.

This is a surprisingly good recording. Great for dinner parties and chill out evenings. Whenever I play it people ask me what the cool sound is. The Santoor stands out from any other instrument I know. I think its unique and has made me want to dive in and discover this particular type of music. Do recommend if you are looking for something cool and different.

I am a big enthusiast of Classical Indian Music. I find this album unique and honest. There is such beauty and warmth in Dr. Sunil Katti's playing I find it very refreshing and simply touches your heart. I enjoy playing this at dinner parties or while Im working. The music sings underneath the sound of the Santoor.

I love this instrument. My brother plays the Appalacian dulcimer, but this is so much more exotic and evocative of a deeper poetry. I use this record for my yoga classes all the time and it works wonders to get students in gentle focus.

This music brings me to a sate of pace and quiet. I very welcome reprieve from the craziness of my daily life. I don't know this instrument very well but I find its sound delightful. Beautiful cover too.

The sound of the Santoor gives me a feeling of contentment and happiness. I understand that the santoor is a very hard instrument to play and I can tell the talent in this recording is not only very skilled but is playing with a lot of love. It is amazing how in music, especially for classical music, the inner state of the musicians comes through in the music. This is a great recording for both the serious listener of classical music to someone new to this lovely instrument.
