  • Favorite Galactic album!

This is the most stripped down, purest, funkiest Galactic album. Its loose and groovy and most of the songs just blend into one another without pauses. The vocals match so well with these jams. EVERYBODY WANTS SOME.

    No doubt about it.
  • One of the best funk albums ever

Galactic's sound on this album is so outrageously good and funky. It is impossible to listen to this album and feel anything but mellowed out. Funky Bird through On the One is 20 minutes of the funkiest jamming ever -- this section just flows together so well. This album is so fresh every time you hear it, the players all mesh perfectly and they straight up jam out, living up to their New Orleans roots. Besides that funky middle section which is my favorite, Go Go is a really good song (especially live), as is Doo Rag, Percussion Interlude, and Goodnight. Not that I don't like the singing on Something's Wrong and Everybody Wants Some, because those are still really good tracks and the singer also meshes very well with the band. But funk is funk, and there is no funk when someone's singing. It's just not funk - definitely jazz, and very good jazz - but do yourself a favor and buy this album for the funk.
