    Alan Gilbert and the NY Phil provide the best performance of the Mahler Third yet. It is rivaled only by the long out-of-print recording by James Levine & Chicago. Gilbert's grasp of the architecture of the symphony is truly impressive. The orchestra plays exceptionally well in this, the opening concert of the 2009-10 season. We heard it live then, and are very pleased it is available. Richard Wood

    The season's pass is a great idea but it is a bit too high a price for most in this economy. Someone must have heard our cries and have issued these as stand alone concerts. Grab them while you can. -Bz
