  • The wonder of Wanda

Jack White deserves a medal from President Obama for his contribution to our musical culture. Wanda Jackson is game for anything White can throw at her and it's masterful. There is nothing like country western singers of her generation that reveled in the roots of country, blues and early rock & roll and had no problem shifting from one style to the next. Jack White has taken the framed Jackson's voice with fantastic arrangements that never sound nostalgic but always fitting. He obviously cherishes singers like Jackson know how to not loose her in the mix. His brilliant Van Lear Rose album for Loretta Lynn a fews years ago reminded us why we fell in love with the coal miner's daughter in the first place. Thank you Wanda for coming out to sing again and thank you Jack for presenting her on a silver platter.

Here's more good news. Wanda is going to perform with the Dusty 45's and they will also be her band for the show. The Dusty's are great and their guitarist (Jerry Battista) was named Seattle's best this year. This will be a real rockabilly power shot.

i've always loved wanda jackson even as a little girl growing up but honestly this isn't really rockabilly like she normally does and it saddens me. i will however give her a hand for trying something new, however she isn't the queen of rockabilly for nothin
