It's so great to finally hear more from Dispatch. Their breakup left a hole in my heart. However, while this is definitely a good set of songs, it seems to be missing the coherence of earlier works, perhaps because they've haven't been working together for a while. Some of the songs remind me more of Chad's band, State Radio, rather than true Dispatch songs. By all means I salute the influences coming from each member's solo projects, however what I do miss is the focused, equal blending of all three voices. Dispatch amazed me with their harmonies, especially the 3-part harmonies, and I worry this EP is somewhat lacking in that area, for the most part. The band of equals seems a bit more like a band of 3 solo artists reuniting. While this is literally the truth, the music reflects that in a slightly unfortunate way. Regardless, LONG LIVE DISPATCH, and I will happily support any new songs they come out with next!

I've been a big dispatch fan for a long time, and I should probably cut them more slack since they haven't recorded in a decade, but I wasn't too impressed with this EP. The songs are alright, but they seem to lack the happy summer groove feel of before. The production and instrumentation feels a little too thick and heavy to me with a lot more intense guitar sounds as opposed to the simple and tasteful lines from before. This album doesn't sound so much like a dispatch project, but a reconciliation of 3 different solo projects. It's good, but I was hoping for something better. I can't really predict myself singing and playing along with these tracks, they just don't excite me like the old stuff.

I bought this EP at the same time as Manchester Orchestra ' s "Simple Math" when it first came out, at first hmmm not as good as "steeples" but NOW I Love it! Listening to them is as good as Coronas with Chicken Nachos! Mmmmm.... Very good. It has a good reggae vibe that I crave. Con man and Broken American are good. I was pleasantly surprised worth the money.
