Will has always been honest about everything, and this is his best album by far. Been loving it for over 2 years. She's from venus I'm from Mars, Make my final stand out here in no man's land, simply the best.
Big fan of Will right up until the illegal line….

Seriously dude? They've destroyed our economy, ravaged welfare, devistated our schools, filled our jails and our emergency rooms, reintroduced TB and made some towns completely uninhabitable they're so violent. This song is so backwards and completely opposite of reality it brings into question all of your other opinions. Great voice, great songwriter but I don't feel like you're relatable any longer. Bummer.

He's one of the finest writers, singers, songwriters and performers today. And it's just wrong that he's not a household name.
Great Great Great cd.

I have heard about Will Hoge for several years now but never took the time to check him out. Boy was that a bad idea. I had the opportunity to see him perform the other night when he opened for Dierks Bentley at the Ryman in Nashville Tennessee. What a treat! Great performance, great songs, and amazing voice! I immiedtaly bought this cd and am very glad I did. Will Hoge is true pure natural talent!

While I suppose it should be no surprise that, living in Nashville (as Will does) will influence you, I am a tad surprised how much of it has seeped into his music, which, while the last couple records were very americana and had touches of the south and country, did not contain the more overt country influence that this record does. "No Man's Land" for example, would be right at home on CMT. Play this record through and then listen to "Blackbird on a Lonely Wire" or "Carousel", his first two records, and the progression Will has made is readily apparent. Paradoxically, I think while his artistry has grown, my favorite records will always be those first two. Nonetheless, this is a typically strong record, it just for me, has fewer songs that I enjoy. In the sing along/shout along vein that I prefer, "When I Get My Wings," "Fools Gonna Fly," and "Goddamn California" are the standouts, and "Trying To Be a Man" is a terrific meditation on his stage of life now. Will is great and you should all see him live, and buy this record. He deserves to be bigger and I hope it happens for him.
Always a love of music

Will nailed it once again with this one. I heard a good bit during a show at the Windjammer a few weeks ago, and as a long time Hoge fan I am still impressed every time I here him play. Some day he will be the headliner of a huge tour and I can't wait to see him and the boys succeed on that scale. Good luck guys! Can't wait to see you again!
