When you remaster and pick everything apart there is nothing left to attach to. The same can be said for film vs. digital photos. Sure digital is tack sharp and perfect, but film has depth that digital just can not achieve. The same can be said for low fi and less than perfect recordings, such as this, the imperfection makes it human...

This is a terrible master of a great album. All the songs are incredibly quiet and fuzzy. Maybe the CD sounds better, I'm not sure. In any case, great music, if you can hear it.

Did you see the Stax story on PBS? Maybe the reviewer has a problem with the Blues Brothers movie. But how can anyone have a problem with "Hold On I'm Comin'"? I mean hold on- it's One of the great soul songs that we can share for generations. The defensiveness of the reviewer who gave it 2 stars shows their ignorance of music and musical legacy-nuff said

Unlike some of the other albums available on iTunes, this is the original versions cut by Sam and Dave in the 60s. Don't be fooled by rerecordings done later by Sam and Dave when money got tight; this is the good stuff!

I can't quite wrap my mind around this. iTunes lists this album at 2 stars because its only reviewer has a hangup on the Blues Brothers movie? Terrible, terrible. This album is a quick burst of soul that will pierce you like a spear. Sam & Dave have held up better than the Temptations or the Supremes because they aren't caught up in the trappings of studio recording. Anyone looking for the roots of R&B, look no further. It may not be on a billboard, but it's good enough to be sent up in the space shuttle...
